HASTA LA VISTA! is inspired by the BBC documentary FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY about the lifetime experiences of Asta Philpot and his friends

And tells the the story of Philip, Joseph and Dirk, three disabled friends, who share the same dream: to leave on a holiday trip to Spain to lose their virginity before they expire. A dream which eventually proves harder to fulfil than they had expected...

HASTA LA VISTA! will be a heart heating, rough-edged, road-movie comedy.

The production is planned in the beginning of 2010”

‘The Dies Residence’ comedy pilot and first episode is complete.  Shot in the summer of 2008, with the co-operation of nine professional actors and award winning director Mike Dawson, and written by award winning television writer, Margit Keerdo.  This comedy has been Produced by Our Time TV Ltd in association with Anonymous Room Ltd.  European and International Rights still available.

Asta Philpot said:

Because there are practically no opportunities for disabled actors I decided to take the bull by the horns and develop a comedy as a disabled protagonist.  The show follows a dysfunctional family, The Dies, and their trials and tribulations.  Although the central character is disabled, me, it is not a show about disability – it’s about family life – the ups and the downs”

I was born in Miami Florida in 1982, and was given 1 week to live.... Well I am still here, though not in Miami but in Leeds UK.  I am physically ‘disabled’ (I hate that word!)

What does disabled really mean?

Whenever people hear that someone has a disability they automatically think that we should be felt sorry for or that we are totally incapable.  I went on a trip in the summer of 2007 that completely changed my whole outlook on life.  It was a road trip with 2 other disabled guys.  Shah, who had a motor bike accident and left him in a wheelchair and Lee who is visually impaired.

Before I met Lee & Shah I have never spent long social periods of time with other disabled people, mainly because of the institutional force field that surrounds disability.  Some parents seem to think that if their child has been born with a disability then they should be wrapped up in cotton wool.  Well, I totally disagree.  I live my life like I don’t have a disability.  Why should I be afraid of what I want to do, just because some people say I can’t do it.  This website is dedicated to positive thinking.
